A new report published by The Washington Post is alleging that there were some high-ranking officials within the Federal Bureau of Investigation who were not on board with the raid on former President Donald Trump’s Florida residence known as Mar-a-Lago.
The report stated that while several of the high-ranking officials within the FBI were in favor of the raid, a list that includes counterintelligence chief Jay Bratt and Assistant Attorney General Matt Olsen, several FBI officials objected to the whole thing just a week before it happened in what was described as a “tense showdown.”
Here’s more information via Newsmax:
FBI Washington field office head Steven M. D’Atuono reportedly objected to the raid, which he considered unnecessary and excessive. The Post reported that he refused to conduct the raid unless directly ordered, and that he wanted to contact Trump’s attorney, a former Justice Department prosecutor, to set up a search of the premises. D’Atuono is quoted as saying during the discussion, “We are not the presidential records police.”
When D’Antuono reportedly asked if Trump was officially a subject of a criminal investigation, Bratt reportedly said, “What does that matter?”
Spokespeople for the Justice Department and FBI declined to comment to the Post. Attorney General Merrick Garland, asked about the report during a hearing before the Senate on Wednesday, said that while he could not go into detail about the investigation, during cases “there is often a robust discussion and it’s encouraged among investigators and prosecutors.”
The FBI has been deeply infiltrated by radical progressives working for Biden and the Democratic Party who have abandoned the original intent of the bureau and are now working to silence the left’s opposition, using raids like the one on Mar-a-Lago and the arrest of pro-life activists as warnings to conservatives to shut their traps or else.
This is why the probe by House Republicans is so important. We must have an investigation that reveals the corruption and politicization of the FBI so the American people can fight back against the agency legally.
