According to Republican Congressman Rim Burchett, despite the fact that Chinese-based social media company TikTok is “100 percent” a national security threat, the White House will not support bipartisan efforts happening in Congress to ban the site and app, which is being used to data mine from its users, which are primarily comprised of young people.
“It’s odd that in China, it’s used as an educational tool, but over here it’s used for slip and fall videos, kids doing all the crazy stuff,” the Tennessee Republican, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, went on to say on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America.”
Burchett then accused the Chinese of keeping an eye on “everything we do.” Which is not wrong, considering they are data mining through TikTok and also spying on us using cutting edge technology like spy balloons.
“I was told by former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that they count the number of paper clips going into the Longworth Building,” said the congressman. “They have spies everywhere and they use this to spy on our children. [They put] a bug on your phone to where they know exactly what you’re thinking, what you’re going to be purchasing, what your trends are.”
He then stated, “makes America look bad, and we should be focusing on the positive and not the negative. That’s exactly what TikTok does. It’s a nightmare and you’re allowing the communist Chinese into your home basically to spy on you and your family.”

Burchett, according to Newsmax, added that he thinks the White House is refusing to take action “because it is compromised by the Chinese.”
Well, when you look at the evidence from President Joe Biden’s son Hunter’s laptop which seemingly suggests that he was involved in in influence peddling scheme with Chinese entities, that doesn’t seem far-fetched.
“You have a balloon that flies over our entire continental United States,” he continued during the interview. “Military experts, Democrats, said to shoot it down. The White House says no. It’s the same with TikTok.”
Burchett also took shots at White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre who stated that they don’t use the platform as a “walking ‘Saturday Night Live’ skit.”
“It’s a clown show with this bunch and they’ve and they’re clearly not for the American people,” Burchett railed. “They have clearly sold us out to the communist Chinese. There’s no other explanation.”
